Patient and Family Assistance
Wisconsin Medicine is focused on meeting the needs of patients. Our patient and family assistance program plays a crucial role in improving outcomes for many of the most vulnerable patients and works to reduce health inequities by directly addressing the economic factors influencing an individual’s health.
Over the past decade, the needs of patients and their families have increased. Housing, food, and transportation are all essential needs, but during a health crisis, they can mean life or death. Through your philanthropic investment, we can stabilize patients in urgent situations and provide a referral to established community partners to address long-term needs.
Members of our outstanding care team, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, collaborate to identify the immediate needs for patients within our health system. When patients and their family members are in urgent need of support, a coordinated effort is set in motion to assess which essential services may be needed to ensure the best possible care. The need for housing, transportation, medical equipment, and food and rent assistance is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and an appropriate plan is made for the patient or family in need.
It is our responsibility to do everything in our power to help ensure a positive outcome for patients within our facilities. Together, with your generous support, we can stabilize families in their moment of crisis.
The financial commitment for supporting patients and families through Wisconsin Medicine may be structured in a variety of ways, including a direct gift, an endowment, or a planned gift. Although the need is spread across all patient populations, there is an opportunity to earmark donations for specific diseases and conditions.
Type | Gift Level |
Create a named endowment to support patients of a specific disease area | More than $100,000 |
Create a fund to support patients of a specific disease area | More than $10,000 |
Earmark a gift to support patients of a specific disease area | $1,000 to $10,000 |
Gifts are being made through the University of Wisconsin Foundation which raises, invests, and distributes funds for the benefit of Wisconsin Medicine. Learn more.
